the greatest gatsby

i read this book when i was in high school. and then it was on super sale at urban. so i bought it and read it this past week. finished today. it's such a profound, fast and intellectually yummy novel. here are some choice excerpts:

page 118 "It occurred to me that there was no difference between men, in intelligence or race, so profound as the difference between the sick and the well."

page 172 "tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms further… So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

i highly recommend it. there is something about it that really gets me. perhaps it's because it's about a bunch of Westerners that end up Easterners and try their best to appear to be seasoned Easterners. i am this Westerner... trying my best to seem the least bit so :) but not really, i really am proud to be from Utah, where the snow falls and the mountains prevail.

i definitely appreciated the book much more this time around. please read it.
