this is about ani. and why i love her.

i heard my first ani song when i was 14 living in jackson hole, wyoming. the song is called, falling is like this. it's an ani type love song and my hopeless 14-year-old heart fell in love instantly.then in high school, i was driving with my friend linny and she got out an ani cd... linny and i bonded over the music and i fell in love with ani again.
and then a few years later we saw ani perform in salt lake city (here). and we did our hair in dreads. and loved it. on tuesday, when ben and i saw her at 9:30 club, ani kept saying she has a tendency to be up-in-your-face. she also said:
"i'm a feminist... but i promise we're really nice!!"
the concert was uh-maze-ing!!somehow ben got an 8:30 stamp? ha.

the greatest part about 9:30 is it's a block from U street, one of the coolest neighborhoods in dc as far as music goes (ok, probably the coolest music neighborhood). and also home of ben's chili bowl. i liked ben's more at 11 o'clock at night than the other times we've been (here).
i love staying out late in dc (like here). i love that dc has so many unique neighborhoods. and well, i just love it here.

Posts like this are exactly the reason I love your blog Emily. I learn new things, see new places, and remember why I miss living in the city so much :(. I'll give Ani a listen. Thanks! Glad you had fun!

Ani is my favorite musician, hands down! I've seen her twice and I will be seeing her again next month here in Des Moines :) My favorite albums are Living in Clip (because it's all live) and To the Teeth. Much love to Ani!
